Creating space for Christmas

Creating space for Christmas

Christmas is fast approaching and over the next two weeks, most of us will be transforming their homes for the festive season.

However, once all presents are bought and the final headcount for Christmas dinner is taken, panic might set in as to where everything and everyone will go.

No worries though, we have some suggestions to re-invent and save space, so that everyone can enjoy dinner around the Christmas tree!

First of all, make a plan

Having a plan of where you need to clear, declutter, decorate or seat people can make things much easier and less stressful when your home becomes filled with family, friends, decorations and an abundance of presents.

Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree…

The traditional Christmas tree is often the focal point of the room, but there’s no need to have a large tree for there to be a warm and festive ambience.

So for those who have smaller homes or simply prefer something more special this year, check out last week’s blog post for some contemporary, space-saving Christmas tree alternatives.

Make room for the turkey

For most people, Christmas is not Christmas without the turkey and all the trimmings.

Make sure you plan ahead so food storage space will not be a problem. Also in the run up to the big day, make sure you use up the food in the fridge and freezer and when shopping only buy the essentials. This can also help save money as well as making space.

When serving food on Christmas day, consider display tiers for side dishes and desserts. It will ensure more space on the table for you and your guests.

Clean out the spare room

It’s always nice to accommodate unexpected guests, so clean out the spare room and make some space in the wardrobe.

Sofa beds are a really good idea if you don’t have room for a bed, they’re also a great place for the little ones to nap.

And when it’s all over…

Christmas passes as quickly as it comes, so make things easier for yourself next year by organising and packing your decorations up in to boxes.

A small storage unit can be the perfect place to keep your artificial tree, lights, ornaments, etc. safe while saving valuable storage space at home.

So create space, breathe and enjoy spending time with your family, friends or community!
