How To Keep Your Plants Alive

How To Keep Your Plants Alive

Summer is here and we are all excited about the holiday ahead, even if we might not be leaving the country.

If you don’t have anyone to babysit your house plants while you are away, worry not!

Check out a few tips below for how to keep your green babies alive.

1. Buy the right plants

Cactus, succulent, snake plants can go for months without water. But you already bought other plants? Right, then skip this tip!

2. Move your plants into the shade

Move your plants away from the windows to a cooler area where they are not exposed to direct sunlight, this way they won’t need as much watering.

3. Trim them

You can trim away some excessive branches or flowers, that will cut down needs for water as well.

4. Keep the soil moist

You can place small pebbles or bark chips on top of the soil to prevent the water from evaporating.

5. Set up a self-watering system

Check out this YouTube video below for ideas on how you can make a slow watering system for your plants: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qeTXrj4qgE

Alternatively, if you are not a do-it-yourselfer, pick up one of these items, all you need is a large bucket to hold enough water for when you’re away.
