What’s Hot in the Kitchen?

If you want to upgrade your kitchen, now is the perfect time.

With some amazing style trends on the scene, you can get a functional and fabulous kitchen!

Here’s a look at what’s hot in the kitchen for 2019.

The Industrial Look

Want hard-wearing, stylish and cool? The industrial design is for you.

The key is to make a feature of the raw materials in your kitchen. Think concrete floors, exposed brick work and metal fixtures on display.

If you don’t want to go full-on industrial, you can add touches of this style with exposed light bulbs, wire storage baskets and reclaimed wood shelving.

Tap Star

A stand-out tap can also add the right finishing touch to your kitchen.

‘C’, ‘U’ or ‘L’ shapes give the cleanest lines, and architectural form to the sink area. But what about the handles? Single levers are more minimalist. 2 handles work the industrial trend.

Think about functionality too. Do you want the ease of instant boil hot and cold taps? A swivel spout or pull-out sprayer? There’s more than a basic model these days, so consider features as well as form.

And finally, what about metal and colour? Go beyond chrome… polished brass taps are the big thing for 2019.

Colour in the Kitchen

Need some colour when you’re cooking?

Blue and green seem to be the big hitters for paint. Go for darker hues like Navy Blue or Fern Green to be bang on trend.

Appliances are also getting in on the act. Bosch have recently launched a new line of coloured fridges, with an interchangeable front. You can individualise your kitchen and adapt yourself when required!

Matt Black Cabinetry

Alongside the darker trend in paint, matt black cabinetry is also having a moment.

Black is a bold choice for the kitchen, but matt black gives a modern, sleek and sophisticated edge to your kitchen.

Splashback Style

The Splashback is no longer just a functional essential to the kitchen cooking space.

It is becoming a style icon in its own right. Think about how you want this to contrast against the rest of the kitchen.

Tiles are still a popular choice, giving a classic clean look. But mirrored or metallic finishes are growing in popularity, giving a dramatic effect.

Play with varied materials to fit with your theme. Single stone slabs or slate brick work look great for the industrial style too.

Connected Cooking

Get smart in your kitchen and integrate clever digital technology.

The bigger appliances are turning your kitchen into communication hubs. App-based fridges like Samsung Family Hub uses a touch screen for shopping lists, calendars and internal cameras to see inside your fridge.

The June Intelligent Oven senses the food and cooks it to perfection. Clever stuff.

Other kitchen helpers include the iKettle which boils water via the app – perfect for when you are on your way home and fancy a cuppa.  And why not wire up hands-free lights? Motion sensored, there’s no need to get sticky marks on them!
