Choosing storage space

There are two ways to determine the size of storage space you need:

Access and security

It is possible to give your suppliers access to your storage unit or units at Shurgard. This means you don’t have to be present each time a new delivery arrives.

Each person you want to allow to access your storage unit or units will receive a personal access code, which means it is always clear who accessed your storage unit or units and when.

On request the manager at your Shurgard location can provide you with a handy overview of the times at which your storage unit was accessed and by whom.

At Shurgard it is possible to provide several access codes for your staff or suppliers.

This is easily arranged in consultation with our staff at the your Shurgard location.

If you lose the key to your storage unit you should report it to the on-site manager at your Shurgard location.

As we don't keep a copy of your key, in consultation with you we can have the lock drilled open by a locksmith.

If you have forgotten your personal access code you can request a new one from the on-site manager at your Shurgard location.

For security reasons we only give the new code to the person who entered into the rental contract.

This means that you can only get the new access code on presenting valid ID.

Moving, transport

All our locations are accessible by van or small lorry, some locations have a high drive-in enabling you to drive your van or lorry right up to the building, which speeds up loading and unloading.

There are also exterior storage units at some locations where you can park your vehicle directly in front of your storage unit.

To prevent any damage to your belongings during transport, you should take care when packing them up.

You can buy various packing materials such as moving boxes, wardrobe boxes, various covers, wrap foils and tape at your Shurgard location.

Large trolleys are available at all Shurgard locations. This means you do not have to carry your belongings but can easily ride them to your storage unit for quick loading and unloading.

Questions about contract and payment

You can rent your storage unit for as short as one week. Just inform the manager at your Shurgard location about your planned move out date when you sign your contract.

As soon as the contract is signed you can store your belongings at Shurgard.

Notice must be received by us at least 15 days prior to the monthly anniversary date of the storage agreement.

Notice must be given in writing – either by e-mail, post, fax or at your Shurgard location.

The notice must contain your name, your unit number and the date of cancellation.

Depending on the rental contract, payments can be made monthly, quarterly or annually.
