So, how do I start?

  1. Download: download the app on App Store (for iPhone) or Google Play Store (for Android)
  2. Setup: follow instructions to set up your access.
  3. Enjoy: when you’re close to a gate, door or
    elevator, open the app and tap to gain access.


Is the app free of charge?

Yes, the app is a free service to our customers, designed to make your storage experience as convenient and simple as possible.

What do I need to make use of the app?

You will need a smartphone.

Download the Shurgard app to your phone and follow instructions on the screen to set up your access. Make sure to enable Bluetooth. On Android phones, you will also need to enable Location Services.

I don't have a smartphone, can I still access my unit?

Of course! You can still use your access code to enter our premises as you would normally do.

Can the app be set up on more than one phone?

Yes, you can download and set up the app on other phones. 

Does the app need cellular data (4G or 5G) to work?

You will need to connect to a Wifi or a cellular data network (4G/5G) to setup your access.

After that, you will only need Bluetooth enabled for the app to work. On Android phones, you will also need to enable Location Services.

I installed the app but the gate won't open. What do I do?

  • Check if your access code is entered correctly in the app. You can modify it if neccesary by clicking on "Edit".
  • Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
  • If you have an Android phone, please enable Location Services as well.
  • If the above don't work, please enter your access code in the keypads. Do give your store manager a call so we can look into this.

What happens if I forgot my phone?

You can still open the gate and doors by entering your access code in the keypads.

What do I do if my phone is stolen?

To make sure that your access is secured, please enable "Biometric authentication" (finger prints or FaceID) in the app settings.

If you have not done so, please call your Shurgard location so that we can block your access code right away.

What if the gate doesn’t open neither with the app nor with my access code?

Please contact your Shurgard location so we can grant look into this for you.
