Our Top 7 Ikea Hacks!

Our Top 7 Ikea Hacks!

We all have something from IKEA. Affordable, accessible and stylish – it is obvious why.

Sometimes you don’t want to hear ‘we’ve got one of those!’ but rather ‘where did you get that from?’. The answer doesn’t have to be expensive.

Here are our top 7 IKEA hacks – transforming the everyday into something unique and special.

1. Candle holder chandelier

The SKURAR candle holders form IKEA are cute. We love them even more when transformed into vintage inspired chandeliers!

Simply drill a hole into the base and push your pendant light cord through. Hang from your ceiling and wait for the compliments.

2. Storage bench seat

The KALLAX storage shelf is a must-have when organising a room. Get double the use by turning it into a seating area too.

You can find seat pads from IKEA which fit the KALLAX directly – or customise by wrapping the foam in your chosen material.

3. Laptop desk to bar cart

This IKEA VITTSJO table also makes a funky bar cart.

Use metal paint to update the frame, then glue a Perspex sheet to the base to create this multi-use piece. Finish off with roller wheels and roll it over whenever you need a drink!

4. Upcycled stool

Pimp up your stool! The £4 MARIUS stool from IKEA is a real winner.

It can be totally transformed using any spare fabric you have or visit your local haberdashery for some off-cuts. We love this modern look – paint the legs gold and add the sheepskin texture to the top.

5. Bed slat storage board

Another use for bed slats? Who knew?!

If you hang the IKEA slat frame to the wall it doubles as a chic storage space for essentials. Perfect for maximising storage places in small areas like bathrooms.

6. Bathroom spice racks

The IKEA BEKVAM spice racks are stylish.  So much so you can use them everywhere as a chic storage place.

Perfect for organising your bits and pieces – like make-up and toiletries in the bathroom. The wooden frames can be customised by painting in your favourite colour too!

7. Hanging Station

The FINTORP rail can be multi-use too! Why not use it in your hallway to keep different bits organised?

Use the hooks to add décor like hanging greenery in pots. If you also position the rail at the right height you create a neat space to store and charge your phone too. Genius.
