Lock for your storage unit
When you rent a storage unit at Shurgard, you'll need a suitable lock to secure your unit and ensure that only you can access it.
What kind of lock fits a Shurgard storage unit?
Depending on the storage unit, you will need one of the following types of locks:
- Cylinder lock (comes with 3 keys, priced at £14.90)
- Padlock (comes with 3 keys, priced at £14.90)
- Code lock (priced at £ 17,90)
All of these locks are durable, highly secure, and perfectly fit your storage unit.
How to purchase a lock
- Online rental: when you rent your storage unit online, you can choose to add a lock to your order. We will ensure it’s the right one for your unit.
- In-person rental: When you rent your storage unit at a Shurgard location, our store manager will advise you on the appropriate lock for your unit, which you can purchase on-site.
What if I already have the right lock?
- Online rental: if you already have a compatible lock when you rent your unit online, you can return the sealed lock to the store manager. A credit note will then be issued and deducted from your next invoice, or applied during the move-out process in the case of a very short rental.
- In-person rental: if you rent your storage unit in person, bring your lock with you. The store manager will check if it is appropriate for your unit.
Keep your lock for future use
When you vacate your storage unit, make sure to remove and keep your lock. It belongs to you, so you can reuse it the next time you rent a storage unit at Shurgard.
