• How much space do I need to store my archives?

• Is there a cancellation fee if I don’t need the storage unit I reserved?
  No, you can always change the type or size of the reserved storage unit, or you can cancel your reservation for free. We don’t charge a cancellation fee. Call our staff and we will be happy to help you.
• Do I need to pay a deposit when renting a storage unit at Shurgard?
  No, unlike other self-storage providers, Shurgard never asks for a deposit when you rent a storage unit with us.
• Does Shurgard Apeldoorn have direct access storage units?
  Yes, at Shurgard Apeldoorn we have several direct access units. You can drive your vehicle directly to the door of your storage unit to make loading and unloading easy.
• Are there any other costs I need to pay when renting a storage unit at Shurgard?
  Below are the only extra costs you may need to pay:

  • One-off admin fee of € 20: this amount is only applicable when you sign your first contract with us. Returning customers don't need to pay this fee.
  • Goods coverage: for your own protection, you’ll need to get goods coverage for the belongings that you store with us. You can opt for a customised goods coverage policy starting at € 16 per month.
  • Lock: to guarantee no one else can access your storage unit, you will need to buy a lock designed to fit a Shurgard storage unit at € 14,90. You can re-use this lock when you rent another storage unit at any Shurgard facility.
• What is the advantage of storage units located on the ground floor?
  With units on the ground floor, you don’t have to use a lift to transport your belongings from your vehicle to your storage unit. This is especially convenient if you need to frequently store heavy or bulky items.
• Is there a minimum rental period?
  You can rent your storage unit for an initial period of one month. After this period, your contract will automatically be renewed on a monthly basis.
• What are the differences between access hours and office hours?
  Office opening hours is when the office is open if you want to sign your contract or talk to one of our Shurgard staff in person. Access hours is when you have access to your storage unit.
• Do I need to pay when reserving a storage unit?
  No, you only start paying when you sign your rental contract.
• What is included in the rental price of my storage unit?
  The price of your unit includes:

  • Convenient access hours
  • Sole access to your storage unit
  • Free parking at the facility
  • Free use of our trolleys to load and unload
  • Expert advice on-site or on the phone

• How secure is my storage unit at Shurgard?
  At Shurgard we take security seriously. All our self-storage facilities have:

  • individual storage units with specifically designed secure locks

• How do I determine what storage size I need?

• Why should I choose an upstairs storage unit?
  Upstairs storage units are often cheaper than those on the ground floor of the same size, so choose these if you don’t have a lot of bulky or heavy stuff to store, or if you don’t have to frequently move stuff in and out of your unit. At Shurgard you can still conveniently access your upstairs storage unit with the help of our spacious lifts and trolleys.
• Can I visit the storage unit before renting?
  Yes, you can always stop by Shurgard during office opening hours and our staff will be happy to show you around.
• What can I store at Shurgard?
  Pretty much anything for personal and business reasons, such as furniture, clothes, sports equipment, archives and stock. There is a list of prohibited items in our Terms and Conditions. They include food and illegal, explosive, or hazardous materials.
• Who can access my storage unit?
  You are the only person who can access your storage unit. You may also authorise someone else to access your unit on your behalf.
• What if the storage unit I reserved is too small or too big?
  Not to worry, you can always change the type or size of the reserved storage unit, or you can cancel your reservation for free. Call our staff and we will be happy to help you.
